[00:00:08] Welcome, welcome, welcome. Welcome one and all. Welcome one and all. Welcome back to 12th Street Talk Back, A Daily Dose. It's your girl, Victoria J. Welcome to the building, y'all. Welcome to the building.

[00:00:24] Now, ladies and gents, we are back in the building. I think the last time we actually uploaded to our podcast platform was about January the 6th, where we ended in talking about Samson. So I kind of wanted to get into that a little bit before we got into the reading of God's Word. I'm going to make it really quick because I'm trying to keep it right at 30 minutes.

[00:00:53] So what I've been doing, guys, is for most of you know that I started my YouTube channel November 2024, and I've been concentrating on that. And I was uploading the Daily Dose over to the Spotify platform, and of course they would delegate it out to the other listing platforms like Goodpods and Apple, Amazon, and so forth.

[00:01:19] Well, over on YouTube, it gets a little bit long. People may come in the building. They may comment. They might chime in. Then the Holy Spirit might just come on in. And I get the jabbering A way because I love to talk about the Word of God.

[00:01:34] So I kind of get lost here in uploading to the podcast channel simply because I feel like when you're listing on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Goodpods, those types of platforms, you don't want to hear all the rest, all the commentary where I chime in and I may read the guest comments or speak to someone.

[00:02:00] So it kind of got a little bit difficult in editing and uploading it to the podcast. I apologize for that. But today, what I'm going to do is I'm going to pick up where we left off, Judges chapter 17, and I'm going to read it 17 and 18. Then we're going to read 19, 20, and 21 on tomorrow.

[00:02:27] And then we'll be all caught up because over on our YouTube channel, we are in the Book of Ruth and we're kind of lagging over here. It made no sense to upload all of them at one time. Um, people's attention span is short and your girl's been going through some things. Um, for those of you that don't follow me on my YouTube channel, I lost my brother here recently and, uh, we are burying him.

[00:02:57] Uh, so thank you for those that do listen, that do follow on YouTube and the other listening platforms, you know, but we kind of got lost here with the podcast uploads. So I kind of wanted to get back in. This is my passion, uh, inspiring reading God's word and all that good stuff, all the things that he's called me to do. So we're going to jump right back in as if we did not leave off as well.

[00:03:25] It was coming up devil over on YouTube and that's because I had put my podcast over on YouTube. I have recently taken it down. It makes no sense to go live on YouTube and have my podcast generate at the same time. So whatever your preference is, whether you want to listen by audio, I will be back loading it back up through the audio platform.

[00:03:52] And if you choose to continue to join us Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and now Saturdays, uh, for the reading of God's word and you want to see the video and you want to be a part of the live stream, then you're more than welcome to head on over to YouTube. Click on my page at 12 street, top back. And every video that we have done is up there for your listening and your viewing pleasure.

[00:04:17] So without further ado, let's go ahead and get into where we left off, where we left off is we kind of left off where Samson had gotten captured by the Philistines. And, uh, he was in prison by the Philistines and, uh, he was made their sport.

[00:04:40] So as Samson was going out, being led out as they called him, uh, I'll read from there instead of trying to put it in my own words. Uh, chapter 16, verse 25. So it happened when their hearts were merry and they, they said, call for Samson that he may perform for us. So they called for Samson from prison and he performed for them and they stationed him between the pillars.

[00:05:06] Then Samson said to the lad who had him in hand, let me fill the pillars which support the temple so that I can lean on them. Now the temple was full of men and women and all the lords of the Philistines were there. About 3000 men and women on the roof watch while Samson performed. Then Samson called unto the Lord saying, Oh Lord God, remember me. I pray strengthen me. I pray just this once.

[00:05:33] Oh God, that I may with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars which supported the temple and he braced himself against them. One of his right and one other on his left. Then Samson said, let me die with the Philistines. And he pushed with all his might. The temple failed on the lords and all the people who were in it.

[00:06:04] So the dead that he killed at his death were more than he had killed in his lifetime. And his brothers and all his father's household came down and took him and brought him up and buried him between Zorah and Estol in the tomb of his father Manoah. He had judged Israel 20 years. So that's what we left off. Now guys, chapter 17 reads as this.

[00:06:31] Now there was a man from the Mount of Ephraim whose name was Micah. And he said to his mother, the 1100 shekels of silver that was taken from you on which you put a curse. Even saying it in my ear, here is the silver with me. I took it. And his mother said, may you be blessed by the Lord, my son.

[00:06:56] So when he had returned the 1100 shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver with my hand to the Lord for my son to make a carved image and mold image. Now, therefore, I will return it to you. Thus, he returned the silver to his mother. Then his mother took 200 shekels of silver and gave them to the silversmith. And he made it into a carved image and a molded image. And they were in the house of Micah.

[00:07:26] The man Micah had a shrine and made an ephod and household idols. And he consecrated one of his sons who became his priest. In those days, there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. And there was a young man from Bethlehem in Judah of the family of Judah. He was a Levite. And he was staying there. The man departed from the city of Bethlehem in Judah to stay wherever he could find a place.

[00:07:52] Then he came to the mountain of Ephraim to the house of Micah as he journeyed. And Micah said to him, where do you come from? And he said to him, I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah. And I am on my way to find a place to stay. Micah said to him, dwell with me and be a father and a priest to me. And I will give you 10 shekels of silver per year, a suit of clothing, and your sustenance.

[00:08:20] So the Levite went in. Then the Levite was content to dwell with the man. And the young man became like one of his sons to him. So Micah consecrated the Levite. And the young man became his priest and lived in the house of Micah. Then Micah said, now I know that the Lord will be good to me since I am a Levite as a priest. Chapter 18. In those days there was no king in Israel.

[00:08:48] And in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking an inheritance for itself to dwell in. For until that day their inheritance among the tribe of Israel had not fallen to them. So the children of Dan sent five men of their family from their territories, men of valor from Zorah and Estol, to spy out the land and search it. They said to them, go and search the land.

[00:09:14] So they went to the mountains of Ephraim to the house of Micah and lodged there. While they were at the house of Micah, they recognized the voice of the young Levite. They turned aside and said to him, who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? What do you have here? He said to them, thus. And so Micah did for me. He has hired me and I become his priest.

[00:09:40] So they said to him, please inquire of God what we may know, whether the journey on which we go will be prosperous. And the priest said to them, go in peace. The presence of the Lord will be with you on your way. So the five men departed and went to Laish. They saw the people who were there. They dwelt safely in the manner of the sedidians, quiet and secure.

[00:10:09] There were no rulers in the land who might put them to shame for anything. They were far from the sedidians and they had no ties with anyone. Then the spies came back to their brethren at Zorah and Estol and the brethren said to them, what is your report? So they said, arise and let us go up against them. But we have seen the land and indeed it is very good. Would you do nothing?

[00:10:36] Do not hesitate to go and enter to possess the land. When you go, you will come to a secure people in a large land. For God has given into your hands a place where there is no lack of anything that is on earth. And 600 men of the family of the Danites went from there, from Zorah and Estol armed with weapons of war.

[00:11:02] Then they went up and encamped as Herodra Jermah in Judah. Therefore, they called the place Maneah Dan to this day. And they passed from there to the mountains of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah. And the five men who had gone to spy out the country of Laish answered and said to their brethren, do you know that there are in, do you know that there are in these houses of Ephod?

[00:11:32] Household idols, a calm image, and a molded image. Now therefore, consider what you should do. So they turned aside there and came to the house of the young Levite man to the house of Micah and greeted him. And the 600 men armed with their weapons of war, who were of the children of Dan, stood by the entrance of the gate. Then the five men who had gone to spy out the land went up.

[00:12:03] Entering there, they took the carved images, the ephod, and the household idols, and the molded images. The priest stood at the entrance of the gate with the 600 men who were armed with weapons of war. When these went into Micah's house and took the carved image, the ephod, the household idols, and the molded images, the priest said to them, what are you doing? And they said to him, be quiet, put your hand over your mouth and come with us.

[00:12:32] Be a father and a priest to us. It is better for you to be a priest to a household of one man or to be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel. So the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod and the household idols and the carved images and took his place among the people. Then they turned and departed and put the little ones, the livestock, and the goods in front of them.

[00:12:58] Then they turned and said to Micah, what ails you that you gathered such a company? So he said, you have taken away my guards, which I made, and my priests, and you have gone away. Now what more do I have?

[00:13:26] How can you say to me what ails you? And the children of Dan said to him, do not let your voice be heard among us, lest angry men fall upon you and you lose your life with the lives of your household. Then the children of Dan went their way, and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back to his house. So they took the things Micah had made and the priests who had belonged to him and went to Laish, to the people quiet and secure.

[00:13:55] And they struck them with the edge of the sword and burned the city with fire. There was no deliverer, because it was far from Sidion, and they had no ties with anyone. It was in the valley that belongs to Beth Rehob. So they rebuilt the city and dwelt there. And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan, their father, who was born to Israel. However, the name of the city formerly was Laish.

[00:14:25] Then the children of Dan set up for themselves carved images. And Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of captivity of the land. So they set up for themselves Micah's carved images, which he made all the time that the house of God was in Shino.

[00:14:55] No. That was Judges chapter 18 and 19, reading out of the new King James Version. I encourage you to go over and read it out of your King James. It reads just a little bit different. And, you know, for me, sometimes I can't get past the thus, the these, and the thous. But I do manage to check on through it simply because I feel like they leave out some key important.

[00:15:22] I wouldn't say they leave out sentences, but it's some wordage that is worded different. And when you're reading out of the King James, it kind of gives you a sense of something a little bit different than them just rewriting the books and putting it in plain English. That is just for me, guys. So what do we have here?

[00:15:51] We have a disobedient people. But we are in Judges, and they have been disobedient for a while. But in chapter 17, coming out of chapter 16, after the death of Samson, they threw in here the man that lived in the bounts of Ephraim, Micah.

[00:16:20] Because this shows just how corrupt Israel had gotten, how they are divided in their ways. It also shows how manipulative people can be. It shows how the mother, although she thought she was doing a good thing by saving up this money to make a carved image of God.

[00:16:49] First of all, God said, do not make carved images. Isn't that what happened back in the time when they were traveling with Moses? They made a carved image while Moses was up talking to God. They convinced Aaron to make a carved image so they could have something to worship. What is it with these people who want to have something physically to see, to worship?

[00:17:15] Much as it is today, you have a lot of people that don't believe in God because they can't see, feel, touch, or hear Him. But if they was to get into His living word and let them pierce, let God pierce their heart, then they will be able to hear from Him. He would give them visions like He said.

[00:17:38] He would pour out His Spirit on men, women, and children in the latter days. He said, if my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, then they will hear from the heaven, and I will heal their land. So, she was double-minded in saving up this money, making a carved image.

[00:18:04] Not only that, she turned around and blessed her son. A son who was already worshiping other gods, him and his double-mindedness, and no doubt getting it from his mom. As I went on to my nifty commentary, it said the exact same thing. It said not only did she curse the money, her son stole it.

[00:18:29] And he gave it back, and she used less than what she saved for this carved image. He, looking for blessing after blessing after blessing, had a shrine of gods. And then he added to his plate a Levite.

[00:18:55] And then he said, if you're a priest, then you are a priest, and you can be the priest over my house. And surely, he knew that he would hear from God. How about just doing what God asks you to do? That is what's wrong in this picture, and that's what's wrong today. If we read God's statutes and commandments, and be the best people that we can be. Follow his statutes and commandments.

[00:19:24] His grace and mercy is sufficient every single day. And it'll fall upon us. Do good unto others. Watch good come back on you. It does not mean that we're not going to have trials and tribulations. Because we will. What did Jesus say? Jesus said, they persecuted me, so they will persecute you. They hated me, so they will hate you. So if you're a follower, as he says,

[00:19:51] if a man desires to follow after me, pick up his cross daily. So if you're picking up your cross daily, and you're doing as your father said do, then you're going to come up against some obstacles. You're not going to need to make carved images and all that other stuff. Just to see or hear from God. But this is what Micah did.

[00:20:18] But lo and behold, the Danites, they didn't do any better. As they enter the scene in chapter 18, they have yet to get their inheritance. It had fallen on them. It's not like they hadn't had ample time. Everybody else had got their inheritance. Caleb was actually helping.

[00:20:38] If you guys don't remember, if you do remember, Caleb enlisted Ophnil to help him. He offered his daughter to anyone that would help him get his land and drive out the inhabitants. But before that, after Joshua died, he was still helping, battling for the people to take over their allotted inheritance.

[00:21:06] So why is Dan coming up so short? Maybe because they're a little bit cowardly. Look at how they did. Not only did they pick on the less, they went and took from poor Micah. So it's kind of like the bully beating up on the smaller kid.

[00:21:32] A tribe that had just as much right to get their inheritance a long, long time ago. They decided to go beat up on the less fortunate, which happened to be Micah and his priest. Although they said the priest was content to leave with them and be their priest. One of the things that he did that was not God-like is when he told them, Peace be with you.

[00:22:02] The presence of the Lord will be with you on your way. He had no power to do that. After all, who consecrated him to be a priest? Micah. Micah, just like Micah did his son. He made his son a priest. Along with his shrine. Brother God said he was serving household idols. So, the Danites, they go back.

[00:22:31] They tell their brethren. They found a group of people that was quiet and secure. And they said, what would you do? What would a bully do? Beat up on the less fortunate. Take his lunch money. Lie in wait of the lesser. And this is what Dan did. They went.

[00:23:02] They took from a group of people that was living in a quiet manner. Quiet and secure. And they took what did not belong to them. But again, we find out that in the book of Judges, everybody was doing what was right in their own eyes.

[00:23:29] Everybody was doing what was right in their own eyes. And I have to say, you got to remember, this is generation after generation after generation. And surely, it's the children's children. The children's children is doing this. But again, someone dropped the ball.

[00:23:55] They forgot to keep passing on God's word and what he said. Much as we do in our lives today. We forget to pass on tradition after tradition after tradition. But they were no better. Not only were there big bullies. They took a priest, the carved images, the ephod, the household items.

[00:24:24] And when they demolished these poor people, they renamed the city Dan. And they began to worship Michael's idols. So, the people of Dan, part of Israel, they are no better.

[00:24:49] They were no better doing what was right in their own sight. But weren't these same people the ones that said to Joshua when Joshua said, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. I don't see anything in the actions of the children of Dan.

[00:25:17] Because the last passage reads, The children of Dan set up for themselves carved images. And Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan. And to the day of captivity of the land. They did no better.

[00:25:47] They did no better. In all this, they're not serving God. They set up carved images for themselves. It makes you kind of wonder why it took them so long to take possession of a land that was theirs. And the land that they just possessed.

[00:26:12] A quiet people minding their own business live there. We don't serve a God that bullies people. And the same goes for today. We don't serve a God that bullies people. If we're about our father's business, as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said that he is, I am about my father's business. He even told his mother,

[00:26:40] Woman, I am about my father's business. At a young age. We are supposed to be about our father's business. Aren't we supposed to be a reflection of the things that our father has done? We're not to beat up on the lesser. We're to educate. We are to love.

[00:27:06] We're to tell the good news about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And all the wonderful things that he done for us. And we've all heard it, whether you're a believer or a non-believer. That Jesus died on that cross, rose on the third day with all power in his hand. And he extended it to us.

[00:27:31] You can read about it over in the New Testament where he tells his disciples before he leaves. Where I go, you know where I go. He said, but anything that you ask in my name, so shall it be. He said, I will ask of it for my father. He said, but I leave behind you a helper, the Holy Spirit. He also said to them,

[00:28:01] The things that you've seen me do, you will do it and more. To my believer, to my non-believer. Get in God's word. It's called faith. Faith that you can heal the sick. Faith that the situation is going to turn around. But you got to have some. And you cannot be double-minded like Michael's mom.

[00:28:30] Micah's mom probably was from the older tribe of Israel. And although she knew the right way and God's word, she had adopted some of the new generation's attitude. Much like we do today. Much like we do today. That's why we have so many people turning away from the church.

[00:29:01] Because in their mind, they don't know what to believe and what not to believe. Just like here. Somebody forgot to pass the message open on. And I said it a few months ago. Somebody left the gate open. They forgot to tell the children's children. But we were told to destroy everything that moved.

[00:29:27] When God took us to the land overflowing with milk and honey. But some of us did not. We let them dwell with us. We let some of them dwell so close to us that we intermarried. He turned on us. Took us in captivity. And we had to cry out to God to come and save us again.

[00:29:57] You see where the lines can get blurred. Much as it is today with our churches. In the world. One bad apple will spoil the whole barrel. And we do have. Some leaders out there. That are. Selfish. But we have a lot of leaders out of there. Out there. That is following God's word. But we have a group of people.

[00:30:27] In the world right now. That don't know whether they want to walk in a church or not. Because of some of the nonsense. But they see. One bad. Spore the barrel. Here. The day nights. The tribe of Dan. 600 men of valor. Went and beat up. On a poor.

[00:30:58] Unexpecting. City. Down the city. And took that. Which belonged to someone else. And these are the people. The people of Israel. The ones that God brought out.

[00:31:26] Of Egypt. With his righteous right hand. These are the people that. He showed miracles. Signs and wonders. That was supposed to tell their children's children. The good news. The same people. That when he brought them across the Jordan. Not the Red Sea that he parted the first time. We're talking the Jordan. When he brought them into the land. Overflowing with milk. And honey.

[00:31:57] Now he told. The leader of each tribe. Pick up a rock. When your children ask you about this rock. Then you are to tell them. How I delivered you out of the hand of Egypt. Somebody forgot. Tell each generation. About what our wonderful God did. For them. All of us have.

[00:32:28] Something in our family. From one of our older seasoned people. The family heir heirloom. We'll remember to pass that down. And if we don't. Our children will remind us. Don't you got grandfather's pocket watch. Or whatever it may be. I know it got passed from your father. To you. To you. To you. To you. It's my turn. I'm getting married. Whatever the. Cager may be.

[00:32:58] Maybe even a home. That's been in the family. For decades. We remind. Ourselves. Of the smallest things. Why? Is it that. We can't remind. Our brothers and sisters. About what Christ did for us. And the same thing here. In the book of Judges. Chapter. 17. 18. Headed over. And read to 19.

[00:33:28] Somebody forgot. To tell the children. What the rock represented. Senate. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. We wouldn't be here now. Which. Every page. We turned. Since we entered. Into the book. Of the judges. Said. The children of Israel. Did evil. In the sight. Of God. Even when God.

[00:33:59] Bought judges on through. The last judges. Judge Ben Samson. The children still. Did evil. I hope that gave you something. To meditate on. We'll move on over to chapter 19. 20. And 21. For tomorrow. And then we'll be caught up. With our YouTube channel. In the book of Ruth. Again. Join us over there. At 1130. Monday.

[00:34:29] Wednesday. And Fridays. Most of the time. I get there at 1130. I'm really trying hard. In 2025. To get there on time. So we can read it together. You can. Comment. You can even come up. On to the stage. To discuss. If you would like. You know most of the time. At that time. Most people are working. But if you don't get a chance. To come. Over to the YouTube channel live.

We're getting back in the swing of things. In 2025. We're going to shake some things up. Because your girl. Got a lot of living to do. And you do too. Keep your hand in God's hand. Let him.

[00:35:27] Be your provider. Let him be your everything. And if you don't know him. Step out on some faith. And try to get to know him. If you read every other book in America. Try reading the Bible. Try reading the Bible. I'm reminded. Of a story that I heard. Where a man. He didn't believe in God. In fact. He was atheist. And by the time he finished reading.
