[00:06:04] What's going on?

[00:06:06] We are going to do a recap today of everything that we talked about on Monday.

[00:06:13] I tried to make it back over here yesterday, but as they say, life be lifin'.

[00:06:19] But I hope everybody's feeling blessed on this beautiful, beautiful day.

[00:06:22] I've been feeling blessed.

[00:06:23] You know, I woke up with a song in my heart this morning, Donnie McClurkin's Mercy.

[00:06:31] And I've just been playing that thing on repeat.

[00:06:34] You know, when I woke up this morning, I always ask God to breathe his breath into my body.

[00:06:41] I always thank him for breathing his breath into my body, should I say.

[00:06:45] And this morning, I woke up and in my spirit, he had a scripture in my spirit.

[00:07:02] And I just, I laid there and I said, God, what are you trying to tell me?

[00:07:08] So I went over there to the scripture.

[00:07:10] I'm a firm believer that anything that God puts in you, you wait for that thing to manifest before you say anything, even though I talk too much.

[00:07:20] But then he just started to fill me up.

[00:07:22] This is about 3.30, 4 o'clock this morning.

[00:07:26] And I just began to worship him.

[00:07:29] I felt like he wanted me to cry out to him.

[00:07:34] And as I began to worship, the more he showed up.

[00:07:38] And the more he showed up, the more I began to cry out to him.

[00:07:43] So I want to leave you guys with that today before we get started.

[00:07:48] Sometimes a wise man told me, we don't even know when God's in the room.

[00:07:54] Because we're so busy doing our own thing.

[00:07:57] But my aunt deposited it to me a few years ago.

[00:08:03] What you in a hurry for when that alarm clock goes off?

[00:08:08] Lay there and realize, even if it's for a couple seconds, that God breathed his breath into your body.

[00:08:18] It was his will that you woke up on this morning.

[00:08:23] So thank him before you throw your legs over that bed and get to doing what you're going to do.

[00:08:32] So let's jump in to Judges chapter 6.

[00:08:35] Let's do a little recap of Judges chapter 6.

[00:08:41] Where should we start?

[00:08:43] Well, guys, Israel has repeated its trouble.

[00:08:52] God has delivered them into the hands of the Midianites.

[00:08:58] And these people, they are despised by all.

[00:09:04] Israel had formally subdued them.

[00:09:08] And I believe this was back in Numbers when Balak petitioned Balaam to come.

[00:09:23] Because Moe was in distress because of the tears of Israel.

[00:09:28] They saw them growing mightily.

[00:09:32] And Balak, the son of Zippor, was king at that time.

[00:09:38] He was king of the Moe bites.

[00:09:41] And he sent a messenger to Balaam, the son of Boer, to curse the people.

[00:09:46] And I know we all know that scripture.

[00:09:51] If we don't, even if we aren't reading our word, but we've been in our word.

[00:09:55] And if you guys follow me on a regular, we've talked about that.

[00:10:00] The donkey.

[00:10:03] How the angel of the donkey had the donkey speak to Balaam.

[00:10:12] God wouldn't allow Balaam to go and curse his people.

[00:10:17] But what he did tell them, you can say everything that I tell you to say.

[00:10:22] And no matter how much Balak coached, he wasn't able to suppress the people.

[00:10:32] See, God was with them then, as he's with us now.

[00:10:38] But Israel, oh Israel, they have gotten themselves, again, caught up, as we would say.

[00:10:48] They have got themselves caught up.

[00:10:52] And God is doing what he do.

[00:10:54] He's letting them sit in their mess.

[00:10:56] Sometimes we got to sit in our mess.

[00:11:00] He hears us.

[00:11:01] And it does not mean he's not going to rescue us.

[00:11:05] But he wants you to think about that thing.

[00:11:07] So he's allowed the media knights to suppress Israel.

[00:11:19] Israel is running off into the caves, into the mountains.

[00:11:23] They're running from their land.

[00:11:27] That God gave them.

[00:11:30] As we much do today.

[00:11:31] And I always got to refer it back to us as the people.

[00:11:35] Because we're applying this word to our life.

[00:11:38] We'll ask God to do something.

[00:11:41] And I'm a witness.

[00:11:44] And either we won't stand on our faith.

[00:11:48] Or we try to shorten God's arms.

[00:11:52] And the last time I checked, his righteous right hand is not short.

[00:11:57] But I told you guys last week, as I was coming out of my prayer, he told me, why you keep trying to put me in a box?

[00:12:11] Don't you know who I am?

[00:12:13] I am that I am.

[00:12:16] I am El Shaddai.

[00:12:18] I am Jehovah.

[00:12:20] I am Lord.

[00:12:21] I am God.

[00:12:25] But the people.

[00:12:28] He allowed the media knights to overpower them due to their sins.

[00:12:35] As he does us.

[00:12:38] Just because we repent.

[00:12:41] And he forgives us right away because we have a gracious, gracious, merciful God.

[00:12:49] Don't mean we might get away with that thing.

[00:12:52] That next thing.

[00:12:53] That we forget.

[00:12:55] That we then went to God and told him that, oh, I'll never do that again.

[00:13:00] We may not do that thing again.

[00:13:01] But we're going to do something.

[00:13:03] We're going to do something.

[00:13:04] We're going to say something.

[00:13:05] And sometimes he'll let us sit in our mess.

[00:13:07] Now, Israel has pretty much imprisoned themselves.

[00:13:13] They've imprisoned themselves because the land in which God gave them, they didn't want into dens, what they call dens, the caves, strongholds, due to their faint heartedness.

[00:13:27] Instead of fighting, they became afraid.

[00:13:33] And mostly because they were guilty.

[00:13:36] They're guilty conscious.

[00:13:37] Our conscience will eat us up.

[00:13:41] And if you know Jesus, the Holy Spirit will check you.

[00:13:47] It'll eat you up.

[00:13:49] It'll eat you alive.

[00:13:53] And he'll let you stew in that thing.

[00:13:58] He'll let you stew in that thing so that you can learn a lesson.

[00:14:05] So he can show you who God is.

[00:14:16] So instead of fighting for the land in which God had given them, they forgot who their God was.

[00:14:26] They flee into the mountains, into the dens, into the caves.

[00:14:37] Pretty much.

[00:14:41] They've allowed the Midianites to run them off from their own land.

[00:14:48] Now, at this time, my Bible tells me that the Israelites were poor, poverty stricken.

[00:15:01] Because the Midianites made frequent attacks, inscursions, invasions into their fruitful land.

[00:15:13] And not only did they have their eye sorely on the land that they had taken, that they had taken from the Midianites.

[00:15:42] They also pitched tents, camped among them.

[00:15:52] They penetrated through the heart of the country as far as Gaza.

[00:16:03] So my Bible tells me that they pretty much has flipped the script and did an opposite thing on Israel.

[00:16:26] They pretty much became the great people.

[00:16:34] And although my mind tells me that Israel is still a great nation, it seems that the Midianites have gotten a little bit stronger.

[00:17:01] So, not only did they come and do frequent visits, they pinched their tents, they camped among them, they penetrated through the heart of the country as far as Gaza.

[00:17:19] However, they left the Israelites alone when it was time to sow their ground.

[00:17:27] However, the Midianites were crafty.

[00:17:33] When it was harvest time, they came back and seized all, ate all, and destroyed their harvest.

[00:17:45] They destroyed the grass.

[00:18:32] All kinds of mischief starts to happen in our lives.

[00:18:41] And Satan will have his way too.

[00:18:47] Satan will have his way too.

[00:18:54] He'll start messing with our minds, making us think things that we're not to think.

[00:19:02] But they did this for seven years, year after year after year.

[00:19:14] God eventually heard Israel's cry.

[00:19:20] And when they cried at length, he directed his attention towards them.

[00:19:28] You know, God is quick to forgive us.

[00:19:39] But we as the people, we're not quick to forgive.

[00:19:46] And I am not exempt of that.

[00:19:51] I am not exempt of that.

[00:19:53] We're all fallible.

[00:19:56] And we live in a world right now where everybody wants to point fingers.

[00:20:04] They want to call you out on your behavior or they did things that they don't like in your life,

[00:20:12] but they don't want you to call them out on theirs.

[00:20:21] And we all do it.

[00:20:22] But we all got to remember that we're all fallible.

[00:20:29] I don't know anybody that came and walked this walk, talked this talk, but the great I am.

[00:20:39] That's why he was able to do it in his time like he does it in our time.

[00:20:48] That's why he was able to make Israel wait.

[00:21:02] That's why he was able to make him wait.

[00:21:10] Because you can't carry God.

[00:21:15] He gonna do things in his time.

[00:21:16] Now he said in his word to be anxious for nothing, but do ask everything in prayer,

[00:21:28] supplication, and make your requests known to him.

[00:21:32] And you're right, Will.

[00:21:34] The Bible says if you walk in the spirit, you're not fulfilled by the flesh.

[00:21:42] It does say that.

[00:21:43] But he said we gotta kill the flesh.

[00:21:47] And he said, be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

[00:21:57] So that we can prove what is good and what is acceptable unto God.

[00:22:04] And it goes back to we're all fallible.

[00:22:11] But his word did say strive.

[00:22:16] He didn't say be perfect.

[00:22:19] But as you increase in your walk with the heavenly father, then you'll start to see your ways.

[00:22:39] Unfortunately, it took seven years for the Israelites to cry out to God.

[00:22:44] And God, the knowing of all.

[00:22:51] God, the knowing of all.

[00:22:53] I'm sure he saw that his firstborn sons, as he called them when he delivered them out of Egypt, were going through something.

[00:23:15] But what he did, what he did was he let them set and stew in it for seven years.

[00:23:41] Being God, he was quick to forgive them as he forgives us of our sins.

[00:23:54] Everything that we do in this life is by God's grace and by his mercy, which he gives us freely every single day.

[00:24:16] When God does decide to deliver the people, he sends a prophet to reproof them, to correct, to chastise.

[00:24:36] And this prophet does just that.

[00:24:40] You guys, excuse me, I'm trying to change our scenes here.

[00:24:46] Give me just one second.

[00:24:54] And this prophet, he reminds them that God brought them out of bondage from Egypt.

[00:25:04] He delivered them out of the hands of Pharaoh who oppressed them.

[00:25:11] He gave them land when he delivered them.

[00:25:18] God reminded them through this prophet that he was their Lord, thy God.

[00:25:27] That he had already told them a long time ago not to fear the Amorites.

[00:25:35] That he would deliver them into their hands.

[00:25:41] He did this way back in the beginning.

[00:25:45] But the Israelites had disobeyed God's voice.

[00:25:48] They rebelled against God.

[00:25:56] But again, here we go with that grace and that mercy.

[00:26:07] Grace and mercy, which God freely gives to us on a daily basis.

[00:26:14] He also gives us leaders.

[00:26:32] He's got his shepherds, his ministers, his bishops, his preachers, deacons of the church.

[00:26:45] He's got them in place.

[00:26:47] Prophets.

[00:26:51] God uses whoever he wants as well as the Holy Spirit to remind us of his love for us.

[00:27:03] But he's never going to let us take credit for anything that he delivers us out of.

[00:27:12] He's never going to, you're never going to be able to take credit for the things that God has brought you through.

[00:27:22] He wants to get out all the glory.

[00:27:29] He's never, ever, ever, ever going to let you say to him, I did this in my own will.

[00:27:39] So after the prophet chastises the people, God then sends an angel to speak to Gideon.

[00:27:56] And my commentary, I found it very interesting.

[00:28:01] And I'm going to read it from there.

[00:28:02] It says, the angel of the Lord, the one who speaks with authority, not just a messenger, was called Jehovah.

[00:28:18] We know God as Jehovah.

[00:28:21] It went on to say that God will manifest himself in the physical form whenever he feels like.

[00:28:35] The angel appeared to Gideon, son of Joash, commissioning him to deliver Israel.

[00:28:46] Gideon was from the half a tribe of Manasseh that laid in Canaan, the family of Abiezer, the oldest house of the tribe.

[00:29:04] However, this was unusual a little bit because Joash, Gideon's father, he worshiped Baal.

[00:29:21] So my commentary also went on to tell me, as I was fishing around in it, assuming Gideon knew.

[00:29:33] They assumed Gideon knew that Joash worshiped a false God.

[00:29:42] That's what I'm going to say, a false God.

[00:29:45] Because we don't have but one.

[00:29:46] We got one altar, one God.

[00:29:51] But he could not acknowledge his disapproval, I guess, at the time as he was being brought up as a young man.

[00:30:03] As we did with our parents and our children do to us.

[00:30:10] We can't reproof a decision in our parents' house.

[00:30:13] Although, in this day and time, we do have children that feel like they run the household.

[00:30:24] I got a 31-year-old son that sometimes feel like he my daddy.

[00:30:31] Trying to tell me, I always tell him, you act like you've been here before.

[00:30:40] But moving on.

[00:30:43] Now my Bible tells me Gideon was a mighty man of valor.

[00:30:48] Yet he was weak in his faith.

[00:30:52] Possibly at this time that God commissioned him, he was retired.

[00:30:56] He was alone.

[00:30:57] That's why he was found there threshing that wheat.

[00:31:03] And he was threshing it in a wine press.

[00:31:06] He wasn't threshing it the traditional way.

[00:31:10] And they said, maybe because this was due to the fact that the Midianites had already all but moved in and took over.

[00:31:22] And he was afraid.

[00:31:24] So he was threshing enough wheat in a wine press not to alert the Midianites.

[00:31:33] When the angel appeared to Gideon.

[00:31:39] And for those who don't know what a wine press or a threshing of wheat is.

[00:31:46] Let me back up.

[00:31:48] They said he was threshing the wheat with a rod or a staff.

[00:31:52] Mainly because he had a little to thresh.

[00:31:56] And no animals was needed.

[00:31:59] But when they had a plenty for harvest.

[00:32:03] In those ancient cultures.

[00:32:07] A threshing floor was a circular area.

[00:32:11] Where harvest was brought in.

[00:32:13] And animals would drag a plank of wood with rocks on the bottom.

[00:32:19] To separate it the unwanted parts of wheat.

[00:32:23] To tread it out.

[00:32:24] So this is what Gideon was doing when the angel visited him.

[00:32:36] And then they said he was probably in a slump.

[00:32:44] I would use the word.

[00:32:49] Because obviously most of them have ran off into the mountains.

[00:32:53] Into the caves.

[00:32:55] The den.

[00:32:56] Because the Midianites was coming through and taking over.

[00:33:00] Pitching their tents.

[00:33:03] Eating up their harvest.

[00:33:05] Destroying the lands.

[00:33:07] And again the Midianites have turned the tables.

[00:33:10] They have grew in number.

[00:33:14] But oh wait.

[00:33:20] If somebody.

[00:33:23] Let me put it this way.

[00:33:26] If there's a group of us.

[00:33:29] And some of us believe.

[00:33:30] And some of us don't believe.

[00:33:35] The ones that believe.

[00:33:36] We're still going to be praying right.

[00:33:39] Standing on our faith.

[00:33:41] Believing that God.

[00:33:43] Is going to come to the rescue.

[00:33:48] So this is possibly.

[00:33:51] Gideon's whole thought.

[00:33:52] As well as some more people.

[00:33:55] Somebody was crying out to God.

[00:33:57] And some of them were disobeying.

[00:34:00] Now my Bible doesn't say that.

[00:34:02] But I'm putting that in my own terms.

[00:34:06] But when the angel appears to Gideon.

[00:34:08] And commissions him.

[00:34:10] To deliver Israel.

[00:34:18] Israel.

[00:34:53] Names.

[00:34:54] El Shaddai.

[00:34:55] Yahweh.

[00:34:56] The way.

[00:34:57] I am.

[00:35:01] Jehovah.

[00:35:05] But it says.

[00:35:09] Maybe Gideon was oblivious.

[00:35:11] To the nature.

[00:35:14] Of this divine experience.

[00:35:16] He was having.

[00:35:18] Because of the way that he answered.

[00:35:20] Oh my Lord.

[00:35:22] If the Lord be with us.

[00:35:24] Why then has it.

[00:35:25] Has all.

[00:35:26] Of this.

[00:35:27] Befallen us.

[00:35:28] Yes.

[00:35:30] And the angel answered.

[00:35:33] The Lord is with thee.

[00:35:37] But as I was.

[00:35:39] Digging in my notes.

[00:35:40] And my commentary.

[00:35:41] And my different books.

[00:35:42] It also said.

[00:35:44] But the angel.

[00:35:45] Gave him a look.

[00:35:49] It was not a look of objection.

[00:35:51] It was a look of assurance.

[00:35:56] That kind of put.

[00:35:57] Gideon on notice.

[00:35:59] That he was actually.

[00:36:01] Entertaining.

[00:36:05] An angel.

[00:36:08] A divine one.

[00:36:14] Also.

[00:36:15] It went on to tell me.

[00:36:19] Shortly.

[00:36:20] As God kept assuring him.

[00:36:23] That he would prevail.

[00:36:26] God would strengthen Gideon.

[00:36:30] Because again.

[00:36:32] Gideon was a mighty man of valor.

[00:36:36] But he was weak in faith.

[00:36:39] Like most of us.

[00:36:41] I don't know why that is.

[00:36:46] We'll have faith.

[00:36:47] As small as a mustard seed.

[00:36:49] We'll drop it.

[00:36:50] We'll pick it back up again.

[00:36:51] We'll drop it.

[00:36:52] We'll pick it back up again.

[00:36:55] And that's that mustard seed faith.

[00:36:59] Especially.

[00:37:01] When you're a babe in Christ.

[00:37:03] It don't matter how many people.

[00:37:05] Come along and tell you.

[00:37:06] They've experienced something.

[00:37:08] Oh that happened to me.

[00:37:10] The me too movement.

[00:37:11] And I'm not talking about.

[00:37:13] The Hollywood.

[00:37:14] Me too movement.

[00:37:20] But.

[00:37:20] I know for me.

[00:37:23] I started out on fire for Christ.

[00:37:26] And I stumbled along the way.

[00:37:28] As we are.

[00:37:29] Nobody has risen.

[00:37:33] Nobody has risen.

[00:37:35] But I'll tap in on that later.

[00:37:41] So God strengthens him.

[00:37:45] He empowers him.

[00:37:51] He assures him.

[00:37:53] That he is the man.

[00:37:55] For the job.

[00:37:57] But Gideon.

[00:37:58] Just like us.

[00:38:01] Still unsure.

[00:38:03] Questions God.

[00:38:04] And says.

[00:38:13] Give me one second.

[00:38:21] I write it down.

[00:38:22] Yes.

[00:38:22] I did.

[00:38:23] Guys.

[00:38:24] I got papers all over the place.

[00:38:25] Give me a minute.

[00:38:26] He says.

[00:38:27] Oh my Lord.

[00:38:28] Where with thee shall I save Israel?

[00:38:31] Behold.

[00:38:31] My family is.

[00:38:32] Is the poorest.

[00:38:34] In Manasseh.

[00:38:36] And I am the least.

[00:38:38] In my father's house.

[00:38:39] But God still answers him.

[00:38:42] And says.

[00:38:43] I will be with thee.

[00:38:47] I will strengthen thee.

[00:38:50] To smite the Midianites.

[00:38:52] One man.

[00:38:56] So I believe.

[00:38:57] God covered.

[00:38:59] A multitude of.

[00:39:00] Unsurety.

[00:39:01] Denial.

[00:39:08] But Gideon goes on.

[00:39:09] As we do.

[00:39:11] God will come along.

[00:39:12] And tell us something.

[00:39:12] And if we don't have our discernment.

[00:39:17] If we haven't spent time with God.

[00:39:19] Because that's how you get that discernment.

[00:39:21] The Holy Spirit.

[00:39:24] He told us.

[00:39:25] Jesus told his disciples.

[00:39:27] Which was extended to us.

[00:39:29] The Gentiles.

[00:39:33] When I leave you.

[00:39:34] I don't leave you alone.

[00:39:35] My father will send the Holy Spirit.

[00:39:38] The Holy Spirit is a person.

[00:39:41] You should have him attached to your hip.

[00:39:44] As your best friend.

[00:39:45] Man.

[00:39:47] Because over in Proverbs.

[00:39:49] He tells us.

[00:39:50] Get wisdom.

[00:39:54] And understanding.

[00:39:56] Make wisdom your sister.

[00:39:59] And understanding your next kin.

[00:40:05] That's what he tells us.

[00:40:07] The Holy Spirit is going to check you.

[00:40:10] That thing going to bother you.

[00:40:11] And bother you.

[00:40:12] And bother you.

[00:40:12] Man.

[00:40:13] Let me tell you.

[00:40:14] When you grow in your walk with God.

[00:40:19] It no longer becomes.

[00:40:21] A conscious thing.

[00:40:24] Because God lives in you.

[00:40:26] The Holy Spirit lives in you.

[00:40:30] And it's going to eat you alive.

[00:40:33] If you ain't walking the walk.
